Mission, Vision, & Philosophy

WHCP charts students’ progress from early childhood through high school, and our program is responsive to children’s individual strengths and weaknesses. We support the individuality of our students, who study together each year while developing a genuine love for learning, and an appreciation for academic rigor and success.

West Hollywood College Preparatory School provides a high-quality education in a supportive environment that emphasizes professionalism amongst faculty and staff, meets the individual learning needs of its students, instills strong communication skills and teaches values such as respect for others, responsibility and citizenship. WHCP offers a complete education based on the following four principles

Children learn best in small classes and a nurturing, family like environment.
A superb curriculum begins with a highly qualified faculty, emphasizes achievement in math and science, and embraces a global perspective in providing multi-linguistic and cultural studies at all grade levels.
Regular participation in community and civic life is essential to a child’s well-rounded development.

WHCP supports the development of a “whole” student: mental, emotional and physical. WHCP provides a unique, hands-on education in a nurturing, family-like environment. WHCP believes in fostering strong communication and good relationships between teachers and students and between teachers and parents.

Goals

WHCP seeks to exceed educational standards and provide the highest quality academic programs. Our goals are to:

Foster academically successful students who will enter post-secondary institutions upon graduation.
Support students’ development of values including respect for others, tolerance, responsibility, citizenship, confidence, positive self-image and ambition.
Maintain a safe, nurturing, family-like learning environment with small classes and a culture of paying attention to students’ individual learning needs.
Maintain a high level of professionalism among faculty and staff including on-going professional development.
Be an active participant and educational leader in the West Hollywood and Los Angeles area communities.
Serve families in Los Angeles by being a bridge between cultures and developing students’ language skills.
